This wine is our tribute to our mother Silvia, a creative and loving soul, always dedicated to art and painting.
Just as a painter she was known by the art name of Sil.
Hence comes the Sil – Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza DOCG “Cascina Liuzzi”

“SIL” – Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza DOCG “Cascina Liuzzi”

Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza is given the subzone label “Nizza” because, since 2000, it has been possible to produce Barbera d’Asti Superiore with a subzone mention on the label, thanks to the vineyard’s perfect position and exposure for this type of Barbera.

Grapes: 100% Barbera
Color: ruby red tending to garnet with aging
Aroma: intense and characteristic, tending to ethereal with aging
Taste: dry, full-bodied, harmonious and round
Alcohol content: 14.5% vol. (depending on the vintage)
Aging: SIL undergoes aging for at least 2 years, of which at least 8 months in large barrels and 6 months in the bottle
Soil: sandy-clay
Training system and pruning: espalier and guyot pruning
Plant density: 4800 stocks per ha
Altitude: 350mt above sea level with south-east exposure

The harvest takes place towards the end of September beginning of October (depending on the vintage), completely manual in 20kg crates with traditional vinification for 15 days. The aging in barrels enhances the wine’s bouquet. Vanilla scent, red berry fruit. It is rightly tannic and leaves a persistent and pleasant aftertaste. The wine has a structure that allows it to be consumed even after 10 years.
